A member and good friend of mine requested I carry the gems a bit further and create a few round variations, so here they are. I'll create more in the near future, but these should help you get started.
Here's the breakdown on the round gem creating actions:
- 3 Actions in this set
- Create Realistic Gems with one click of the mouse
- Easily resize and piece them together for strings of jewelry
- Use as buttons or other embellishments for your designs
- Each action creates a 300 ppi image
- Transparent Background
- Save as a .png for later use or distribution
- Resize, alter, or edit as needed
Tested in both Photoshop CS2 and CS3
Commercial Use OK!

15 New Training Videos Added: A Full Hour + of Training activated today
Ok Folks, I've heeded the call. Over the 10 years or so that I've been running ActionFx, the requests for information on Actions has piled up into a huge stack of digital paper. I have tons of requests like 'What are these little doo-hickies? How do I make them work? How do I create my own?'...so on and so forth. All valid questions, but I just couldn't seem to find the time to get the information online. Until now, that is.
In addition to the Actions Training Vidoes, I've also revamped a video from a few months ago: 'Creating Alpha Sets Quickly using Layer Styles'. In this video I demonstrate how to rapidly generate multiple Alpha sets for Digital Scrapbooking using Layer Styles from this site. Works with styles created by others also, so no worries there.

It's summer, a Holiday week here in the U.S, and a ton of updates on the way for the ol' website!
First up is a free video I created for those who would like to know how to load and use the Actions you find here or from other resources. I've intended to get this tutorial online for some time... thanks to everyone who requested it for their patience. The video is just over 5 minutes long in Flash format.

AFX Dynamic Gems: 20 Gem Creating Actions

AFX 20 Dynamic Gem Actions
I told a few members that I would continue refining the gem creating actions, and here are the results of those experiments. Each action creates a new 300 ppi image (between 3 and 2 inches square, depending on the effect) and generates the gem from scratch... no user input required. Multiple color variations included including B/W only for easy coloring and conforming to your designs. These are easily resized as needed, and make great sequins as well.

Here are a few styles I created using the quitling theme I've been hooked on lately. These layer styles give more of a pillowed effect than those I've previously released. Enjoy!

I haven't done a lot of Layer Styles lately, so I spent the last few days getting some new ones together for you. There are 52 sets of 12 Styles for a total of 624 layer styles in all. Wallpapers and dynamic patterns, stones and a variety of textures are included, and I've even put together 2 sets of Quilt style Layer Styles for your commercial or personal use. Use these on text, on frames or a variety of shape or brush layers to add some unique flair to your designs!
